Be a Construction Volunteer

Volunteering with our construction team on a Habitat Capital Region build site is perfect for those who want to get their hands dirty and learn a new skill. It’s great for team-building, too! No experience is necessary - skilled and unskilled labor is welcome.

Volunteer as a group

Volunteer with Habitat Capital Region for an amazing team building opportunity!

Volunteering together provides a way for your team or group to have fun together while pursuing a common goal. There are group volunteer opportunities in construction, in our Habitat ReStores, or at special events.

Whether this is your group’s first volunteer event, or you’re seasoned pros, Habitat Capital Region provides a fun and engaging experience for everyone. We will teach you everything you need to know on the build site, and there are a variety of tasks both indoors and outdoors to participate in that require all levels of skill and ability. No experience is necessary.
We welcome groups from businesses, churches, college student organizations and athletic teams, clubs, and other organizations.

FAQ

Volunteers can get involved in a number of ways. There are opportunities to work on construction sites or in our ReStore, to help with special projects or in our office, and to serve on committees.

Habitat Capital Region provides youth volunteer opportunities for people 14-17 years old. You must be at least 14 years old to volunteer in the Habitat ReStore and at least 16 years old to volunteer on a construction site with Habitat Capital Region. Volunteers who are under 18 years old may not use power tools or work from a height of six feet or more. Guardian permission and chaperones are required for youth under 18 years old.

No experience is needed to volunteer with Habitat! Anyone who wants to help and is at least 16 years old is welcome on the construction site. Site supervisors will provide you with tools and equipment and teach you how to use them.

Construction volunteer opportunities are generally Tuesday-Friday from 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM with limited exceptions. Our ReStores are open to volunteers the same times they are open to the public, Tuesday - Saturday with morning and afternoon shifts available. Other volunteering opportunities are available as projects and events arise. All opportunities are shared with registered volunteers on a monthly basis to sign up online. Yes, volunteer groups are welcome! Volunteer groups are made up of 3-6 people who want to volunteer at the same site on the same day. Email volunteer@habitatcr.org to inquire about volunteering with a group.

Yes, Habitat Capital Region does provide opportunities for you to complete court-ordered community service. Habitat for Humanity does not work with volunteers who are convicted of sexual or violent crimes, theft, or crimes involving firearms. Background checks are completed for all volunteers.
